Odessa Museum Bleschunov

The Odessa Museum Bleschunov is one of the youngest museums in Odessa, which was opened in 1989 and at first glance, a common inhabitant can imagine that this is a museum of an ordinary collector, but in fact this is misleading, since Alexander Vladimirovich Bleshchunov, though possessed a passion for collecting, but his true goal was to attract the younger generation to the beautiful: art, literature, sports, science and knowledge.

Alexander Vladimirovich Bleschunov was a famous climber, collector and people's figure.

Living in a communal apartment on Polskaya street, Alexander Vladimirovich was famous for his hospitality and goodwill, hosted famous artists, writers, people's figures and sportsmen. Many friends supported the enthusiasm of Bleschunov, and, if possible, supplemented his collections with unique exhibits.

In this communal apartment, the Odessa Museum Bleschunov, which, at the core of Bleshchunov's personal collections and most importantly his ideas, has resumed the work of a mountaineer and collector.

Alexander Vladimirovich Bleschunov

Alexander Vladimirovich Bleschunov

Bleschunov was born in Ukraine, the city of Kharkov in 1914 and immediately moved to Odessa.

In 1936 he created the first section of mountaineering in Odessa. Heading it for more than 30 years, during this time under his leadership there was training and scientific and sports expeditions to the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Carpathians and the Pamirs - which so beloved Bleschunov as early as 1938, when by chance, he walked along the Pamir seeking a way past the blockage , created on the site of the ruined lake. Subsequently, the climbers called the peak and the pass by the name of Bleshchunov.

Bleschunov organized the first alpiniad in Odessa in 1939.

Being the head of the section of Odessa climbers on a collective basis, Alexander Vladimirovich had a considerable impact on the youth, developing their interest in art, literature and poetry.

It is interesting that from the moment of foundation and until the day of his death (May 21, 1991) Alexander Vladimirovich Bleshchunov himself was the manager of the museum of his name.

Exposition of the Odessa Museum Bleschunov

The museum itself is located in a communal apartment, in which Alexander Vladimirovich Bleschunov himself lived, when you enter the entrance you will be met by an ordinary door, like any of the doors of a residential apartment, and the museum itself consists of ten rooms. All this gives a kind of charm and comfort, the feeling that he came to his friend, who always tells something interesting and fascinating.

Expositions are arranged in a certain sequence, which creates a certain sense of travel, not only geographically, but also temporary.

Russian antiquities

This room contains exhibits of everyday life of urban residents of the 19-20 centuries.

The objects that surrounded the household life of our forefathers, forming a background in this unique and beautiful period.

Examples of antique furniture from Karelian birch, a piece of Russian beads and many other unique things.

Ladies room

Another room is called "Tet-A-Tet"

The room turned out to be quite small in size, but completely saturated with interesting items.

Here is: children's porcelain dishes, family portraits made on the cut of ivory, unique Meissen porcelain, Incredible fans carved from the shell of a sea turtle and many other interesting items.

Odessa Museum Bleschunov notes the greatest interest in the exhibits:
It is in this room that the most expensive item of the collection is located - "The Pearl of the Museum" is the "Ceremonial" porcelain service named "Swan".

Its value lies in the fact that it was produced in 1737 and was made by the order of Count Heinrich von Bruhl (the first minister of the Polish King Augustus 3), and totaled 2,200 items, issued in a single copy. At the moment, only 300 items remain from this collection of the unique service all over the world, 13 of which are in the Odessa Blessunov Museum.

Western Europe

This exposition presents samples of furniture, glass, porcelain and painting of the 18th century.

Products from Meissen, Vienna, Berlin. Also in this room are amazing seals. A huge Venetian mirror, over which, as if from the portholes, the reigning characters of the 17th and 18th centuries and other unique objects will be proudly looking at you.

Some attentive visitors, in a large number of exhibits find a rather amusing subject: a porcelain cup (what is interesting you ask?) The fact is that if you look inside you will see a porcelain recess designed for the mustache, so that the gentleman does not stain his whiskers in tea.

Odessa Museum Bleschunov notes the greatest interest in the exhibits:
Cross, amazing, hand-embroidered work, made of silk and silver threads. Was invited to the cloak of clerics of the 16th century (northern Europe) - near the exhibit there is a magnifying glass, which will allow to study in detail the beautiful work and to think over the time of its production.

Buddhist East

The exposition carries a conditional name. In this room are concentrated art objects of peoples: the Celestial Empire (China), the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan), the Steppes and Winds (Mongolia) and the so-called "Roof of the World" (Tibet).

Porcelain of the east, tobacco bubbles from semiprecious stones (it is interesting that some bottles transmit landscapes and paintings, to which, if you look closely, you can see that the drawings were painted on the inner walls of small bottles), idols of Buddhism.

Odessa Museum Bleschunov notes the greatest interest in the exhibits:
Chinese screen of the 17th century (original!) Featuring high artistic performance.

Going down one floor to the bottom, you will pass a flight of stairs, which adorn the paintings of Boris Alekseevich Smirnov-Rusetsky (disciple of Nicholas Roerich) and you will enter the next room of the museum - the cozy room "Ukraine".

Here you can find items of folk craft of Ukrainians, art creations, a lubok picture (lubok) of the 19th century "At the Kryntsi", Krolevets woven towels of the 19th century and more.

Odessa Museum Bleschunov notes the greatest interest in the exhibits:
Ukrainian icons, the so-called "primitives" (written on canvas, unlike Russian icons - written on a tree)

The amazing icon of the Holy Trinity is executed in an amazing style "iridescent picture" (something like the principle of advertising on the "bigboards" of the city, only another version - on the canvas of the picture, thin cross-bars, vertically glued strips, not visible when watching the picture in full face, but you should look at the picture from the right or left side, your eyes will open another image, printed on the side cross-sections) which shows three images at once.

As you can see from the title, this exposition is devoted to the "pearl of the sea", for this reason, its exhibits are so diverse: memorabilia, rare books, parties, photographs, paintings of Odessa artists and Harmonium (keyboard musical instrument)

Odessa Museum Bleschunov notes the greatest interest in the exhibits:
At first sight, an ordinary statuette with a size slightly larger than the palm of your hand, a copy of the monument, is on the street. Bunin, the square of Vera Kholodnaya, "Petya and Gavrik" (From the story of Valentin Kataev "The white sail is white"), but that's just not a statuette, but an original sketch that was approved before the creation of the monument itself.
